ENHANCING LABOUR MARKET INTEGRATION OF ELDERLY FAMILY CARERS THROUGH SKILLS IMPROVING - ELMI
ELMI is a project that supports elderly family carers by offering them an on-line training course to help them developing their skills, better facing this challenging role and becoming professional carers.
The on-line training course elaborated within the ELMI project targets all elderly family carers, and especially carers of elderly diagnosed with Alzheimer dementia, because Romania is facing a high number of patients with Alzheimer dementia and the care strategies and national plan for these patients and their carers are lacking.
Moreover, this training becomes a first step for the qualification and integration of elderly family carers on the labour market, allowing also the facilitation of their mobility at European level through an agreement signed between Romania and Italy in the framework of the ECVET system.
ELMI proposes also the first Romanian on-line platform of resources for elderly family carers, as a mean to communicate with different professionals and with other carers, to ask for help when needed, to find institutions that could offer them information and support in order to ensure a high quality care for seniors and to overcome the difficult situations that they are facing (like stress, burn-out, problems specific to certain pathologies, different aspects of care).
If you are a family carer of an older person, we invite you to follow our on-line training course and to access the platform of resources for carers.
A Handbook for elderly family carers will also be available on the ELMI website.
